Free to collect….a wife
March 13th 2009 21:31
It just goes to show how easy it is to advertise on the internet these days. Just look at what happened when a British man decided to put his wife up for grabs.
They had only been married for a year but when 38 year old, Gary Bates, got so irate with with his wife’s nagging he decided to put her up for sale...for free.
In an ad in Trade-It, Bates advertised the sale as “Nagging Wife, No Tax, No MOT. Very high maintenance – some rust,” but was actually surprised when he had at least nine or 10 people replying to the ad with questions such as “Is she still available?”
The ad was placed in the “Free to Collect” section along with some other items Bates wanted to get rid of such as fishing tackle.
Fortunately for Bates, his wife - at least eventually - came to see the funny side of it.
