Sock Psychology
April 5th 2007 05:45
Socks. They’re tight, restrictive and totally unnecessary. In fact, somehow over the last two years I have developed a night time sock phobia. It has, strangely, become physically impossible for me to fall asleep whilst wearing socks – be they warm and wooly, or light and breezy. This revelation has come as a shock, for throughout most of my life I have never been without a good pair of friends for the feet.
What has been the catalyst for my sudden, drastic lifestyle shift? Possibly, socks are representative of my social boundaries and psychological barriers. They protect me from outside influences, shelter me from a harsh world of bare feet and languid virtues. Or, more likely, I am just without a comfortable pair.

I love this! I don't think I could sleep in socks. Though I do like to wear a wooly pair around the house on cold nights. But never to sleep in.

The only time I could ever wear socks to bed was when I experienced minus -15 to minus -23 degree temperatures.... Brrrrrrrr! .... I wasn't taking anything off, I can tell you... *chuckle*
Great Post!

This really kind of stuck out at me because I think you're right on with it. I'll just read this when my daughter, who refuses to wear socks, even with shoes is stinking up my house with her corn chip smelling feet. She is my little mustang, always doing what others would not, and that;s why I love her.
