Never Too Old to Dance
January 1st 2010 09:55
Nicholas Espluosa has never looked back since Sarah “Paddy” Jones, now 75, signed up to his Salsa dance classes in Spain six years ago. Espluosa immediately spotted her agility and her ability to “move like a twenty year old”.
In no time at all the pair had become the dancing duo Nico and Paddy (or Paddy y Nico) and despite the 40-year age gap (Espluosa is now 35), they have danced their way into shows and contests over Europe and the United States.
The latest one and the one that caught my attention, was their performances on Tu Si Que Vales (You are Worth It), a popular Spanish television talent show where audiences and judges were left gobsmacked after watching “Paddy” flip over Espluosa’s head and through his legs and the pair walked away as winners of the heat, a place in the finals and 10,000 euros richer.
This is not a video of their performance is the contest but one of a performance some time ago in Munich. It is a really good example of what the couple can do. Take a look.
Sarah “Paddy” Jones is an ex-Brit who packed up and moved to Spain to retire with her husband years ago. Jones had been a dancer in her younger years but had long given it away to look after her husband and children. After his death six years ago, Jones decided to keep active to help her with grief and signed up to the Salsa classes. She is now a grandmother of seven and neither that role or her age are about to stop her. Jones intends to keep it up until she at least reaches 80 and then she will see.
The duo have surprised and delighted audiences the world over. They have performed in New York, Los Angeles, Las Vegas, San Francisco, Berlin, Sofia, Paris, Jerusalem, Madrid and Munich. Although, disappointingly they did not take out first prize in the finals the other day, their performance on the final show of the current series can be certain to lift their international profile even higher.
Good luck to “Paddy”. Keep entertaining.

She certainly is cool. The video of the two of them on the tv show was even funnier but the tv station made it unavailable on line before I could attach it. I think they may be hoping to sell the series here.
Thanks for reading, watching and commenting.
