Fry up Some Friendship, Mate ! In Barbeques We Trust
January 8th 2007 11:44
For most people in suburbia, this Wednesday will be perfect weather to throw a lamb on the barbie and 'sizzle' over gossip, current affairs and chiding jokes. For those in rural Victoria, however, things won't be so festive.
It's a great Australian tradition to fry up some meat and set up some stumps in the backyard. There's nothing like a great barbeque to settle differences, rekindle romances and have an almighty beerfest. It was at a barbeques I've had the most delightfully social experiences of my life, and how better to share my experience than to blog it?
Through heavy droughts, through abnormal rainfall (Queensland, Northern Territory, Western Australia) and through destruction, grief and angst - there is only one thing that could unite a nation and a state so divided. Love, Friendship.. Hugs, Kisses and Jocularity. And there, in the midst of what we seek - our land of milk and honey. The Barbeque.
We have air strikes planned to battle fires and our Canadian friends have come to help. Our New Zealand counterparts have fought with us for weeks. This is not a time to relent, but to curse, sweat and persevere. The reward for our Commonwealth heros? A barbeque, held in high spirits.
Toss me a Draught, cause we're in for a long hot summer with many a barbeque to come.

How's it going? I love a good BBQ especially when its celebrating friendship and goodwill.
I can taste the cold beer and delicious steak already.
Good one.

Sorry I've been out of touch ( again ). I'm so disorganised. Hopefully soon everything will be back to normal. You Canadians are too similar to us Aussies.
Perhaps you should visit me in Melbourne sometime. You won't want to live there after my recent post...
Thanks for commenting, Peg ! catch up soon, yeah ?
