A close analysis of news, current affairs, politics and social trends..... This is the world as you've never known it...Want to wake up with the Critic ?

.. But it DOES move...

Brilliant minds are of such extraordinary substance... Had we known DNA and molecular science in the 1600's as we know it now? Maybe everything would have been different...

Galileo, whom I love dearly.
In 1632, we knew a man of brilliance, of exceptional worldly talent. 1632 saw this quote: "Eppur si muove." But it does move. But it does. A mature voice of experience, of wisdom and understanding centuries beyond that of his peers had spoken in a free exchange of concepts. In today's "free market economy", which is anything but free, we may revere and mourn the loss of a talent that offered so much and received so little..

This man, his beliefs and character were subject to the petty judgement of others... The first man (that I know of anyway) to possess passion for science... I passion I never shared, but hold the deepest admiration for...

Galileo, If only we could clone you !!

AnthonyB ...

Me? Science ignorant ...

Apart from The Science of the Saints ...

My apish brain hasn't evolved enough yet, I guess ...

But I'll always cast my vote for a brilliant mind (or two, even ) ...

David ...

PS: I hope Galileo's descendants are receiving royalties from all the dance, techno and rap songs out there ... ***

Akh, I have to admit I feel like an idiot for forgetting the names of some of the big guns in ancient history science. Damn.

I know there was this guy who accurately measured the distance from the earth to the moon correct to 0.3 x 10^(something).

It turns out his maths were dead on accurate, only failed to take into account the way light bended.

Bleh, I've forgotten all this, been years since highschool (well just one).

Geez, David. Where have you been for the past 400 years ? Galileo is a god amongst men!! I refuse to accept that he's passed on !!

Ahmed;

How could you forget Aristotle, Decartes (Philosophy is a science too, I believe) and Kew High's Year 10 science teacher Mr Anastasiou.

I'm sorry but someone who can't accurate judge the bending of light is a bit of a dunce. I was judging bending light before I could walk. let me know that guy's name by the by.. I'd like to meet him one day.

P.S., Which Uni do you attend ?

Thanks guys. I love having a good comment or two.

Galileo is the man! Any dude who can (in the 1500's) work out that the earth was revolving around the sun and not the other way round is amazing. And then to have to suffer the Catholic Church condemn him because the bible said that God put the earth on it's foundations and could never be moved.

I don't really understand physics or astronomy and his kind of mathematics is way way way out of my league. But I'm bloody impressed by him.

Yes, Kylie. You are so wise and informed. People were so ignorant and closed-minded back then. I hear you say: what, they aren't now?
ME: There there, don't judge too harshly...
YOU: I'm not, people are idiots
ME: Okay okay, It's alright. I agree.

I enjoyed that comment, and the conversation I just had with myself. It was like you were here too !

Cheers,

Anthony

Oh, AND...

To the box with glasses (Ahmed) I also attend La Trobe. What course and what days do you attend? We'll meet up for beers at the Eagle, dude.

Hmm... Would Galileo want to cloned? Great question. I don't really think it's up to him. If I want him cloned, I'll have him cloned damn it!!

Thank you for the compliment. I want to clone myself too. So many possibilities. I could attend Uni, the gym, marry different people in three different countries and write my blog all in the same day !!!

Cheers, Peggy !!

Galileo has a new name & physical shell for this life and would see no point in cloning a body that resembles the one he once used. He probably wouldnt even recognize this clone if he passed him on the street. Now if you are asking about a soul clone...Of course he would smile and think of how great the world would be with two of him, but dismiss the idea as he knows full well thats not possible. Please take notice: I am Galileo and we are eternal, this life will surely be better than the last so keep your ears open all doubts will be erased from your mind. There will be a young man, with an amazing story, who takes the world by storm when he delivers three technologies to combat global warming to the massachusetts institute of technology. The three technologies will be used to make massive reductions themselves & finance further projects. Thank you for asking.
