Among the Christmas Madness

December 21st 2008 15:28
The Northern Beaches Chorus

Christmas is a good time and a bad time. The stresses that are imposed on us or the stresses that we impose on ourselves make for a very intense lead up to the big day.

Everything it seems, has to be done before Christmas. Our bosses want an assignment finished before Christmas. We all seem to have few hours to do what seems insurmountable. Most of it is because many people take time off in January for holidaying and lazing around.

On top of all the work, there are all the other things to do that Christmas forces upon us. There is the present buying and arrangements for get togethers. There are also the multitude of get-togethers that is obligatory for Christmas.

I love Christmas time. I don’t love the stress in the lead up to it. We should change things to be deadline 30 November so we have a month to do the Christmas catch ups and the present buying and the food buying for Christmas in a much less pressurised way.

There are a lot of people that make some of these pressures more enjoyable and I witnessed some the other day. While I was doing some Christmas shopping at Warringah Mall in Sydney on Saturday, a choir calling themselves the Northern Beaches Chorus entertained the whole complex with a whole series of Christmas Carols and other Christmas cheer to much ongoing applause.

It took the edge off everything.

Well said! There's nothing like music to focus everything on the point of the occasion. If that makes sense. I can't write straight yet. Need coffee and Vegemite.

Yes and that made perfect sense. Sydney does really come alive at Christmas and through the summer with all the carol singers and the buskers.

I really do love it.

A very Merry Christmas to you Chris\.

We just saw this post and thank you very much for your positive words about our Christmas carolling at Warringah Mall. We'll be back again this year and we also have our own Christmas concert at Dee Why RSL on December 6.

Cheers
