Christmas on Sydney Streets
December 23rd 2008 12:23
All the news might be about a recession but that’s not taking away the Christmas cheer in Sydney’s central business district.
Today, while completing some of my Christmas shopping, I was delighted to see the buskers and the usual Christmas hype in Pitt Street Mall.
The city is crowded with Christmas shoppers as always but this year there are plenty of bargains around. Not only has the recession forced many retailers to put on massive sales, but the decision to redevelop many of the shopping arcades around there has prompted many of the retailers to sell off stock very cheaply. Some are closing down. Others are relocating but the Christmas cheer in this central shopping spot in Sydney has not waned.
Take a look at some of the gems in Pitt Street Mall.

That's what I love about Sydney at Christmas.

It's probably more concentrated and not as many as usual at Christmas but it's still pretty good.
Have a lovely Christmas. I look forward to our Orble conversations in 2009.

I know we are poles apart on our poitical thinking but that only leads to good debates. My comments are never personal but only stressing views that I feel strongly about.
Thank you for visiting and commenting and my wishes for a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to you also.

I'm chuffed that you had the presence of mind to take a camera - or was it your 7.1 megapixel mobile?? Yes Australia is a strange place for those used to a northern hemi Christmas and you have provided a fascinating insight into its heart and soul. Great to see SL blogging on and suggesting a possible visit. I would happily volunteer as a tour guide if that visit eventuated. Happy and peaceful Christmas to all Orblers,
Col

I thought I might give those outside of Sydney some pics on the great vibe in the streets of Sydney at Christmas time. The doom and gloom of the economy hasn't gone so far as to stop the celebration on the streets.
Happy Christmas to you and thank you for your support of my blog thoughout the year.

Just a quick word of thanks to you and all of the Orblers who host a site and are expected to make grand insights into the world as it unfolds about them. I'm too obsessed with other aspects of my life to devote the time and risk the thorough examination of my own inbuilt understandings of my world. I can, however find a few moments each week to make a gut response. Your insights have been most appreciated because they dont pretend to KNOW but seek clarification from others about their views. Your Orble on undies was hysterical and had me chuckling for weeks but you, and many others in Orble, take up the role of prophet in a cyberworld. Well done

I found where all the lights in Sydney are hiding...the Sutherland Shire!! It's all happening down there!
Have a great day,
