No Sex Theme Park for China
May 18th 2009 10:32
Not all publicity is good publicity as the developers of China’s first Sex Themed Park learned today. Love Land, the controversial theme park that was due to open in October in the entertainment zone near the Yangtze River in Chongging has been condemned for demolition before it has even opened.
The park had been approved on the basis that it was an exhibition that provided visitors with education on sex, its history and practice in other countries, anti-AIDS measures and the proper use of condoms.
However, Love Land came under so much criticism for its vulgarity and it had officials so hot under the collar that operators have been ordered to pull it down.
It was quite a brave move for the operators. China is not open about sex and view it as a matter of privacy but the operators believed this would make it all the more popular.
Officials say they have been mislead and had not been advised that the exhibition would include many pictures of sculptures of naked men and women and a giant replica genital on a wall.
Visitors have been busy taking photos of the already erected entrance to Love Land. It now will be all they will get.

It is a strange one. In fact, I thought the guy must have been some smooth talker to get the project up and running in the first place.
