"Merry Christmas, Bono" says Queen.
December 25th 2006 01:19
Just in time for the festivities, the British Embassy in Dublin (BED) has announced that U2 frontman Bono will be awarded Knighthood. The Queen of England will be presenting the greatest present of 2006 for "his services to the music industry and for his humanitarian work", as stated by the BED.
Paul Hewson (a.k.a. Bono) will recieve the Commonwealth's greatest honour in a ceremony presented by British embassador David Reddaway. Hewson (Bono, remember?) was born in Dublin in 1960.
Meanwhile, Prime Minister Tony Blair - who earlier this year announced his retirement - congratulated the singer for the award.
It's a fantastic celebration for Bono, whose work on and off tour should be appreciated. He recently sang at a Kylie Monogue concert in Sydney. Both singing talents were conducting Australian tours to compensate for booked performances that were eventually cancelled, almost two years prior.
Merry Christmas everyone !!
